EVA Awards at the Rooms in St. John's

Well, in a couple of days I'm off to St. John's for the EVA (Excellence in Visual Arts) awards here in Newfoundland & Labrador. Should be an interesting gala. A good example is the Long Haul award--we've got some old-school mainstays of the island art scene duking it out. And this time I won't be taking the amazing bus to St. John's. I actually get to arrive within a reasonable amount of time!

Give it up for Mark! "Island art scene" conjures up images of marimba playing and coconuts, though I know it is not so. Will there at least be ginger beer and roti?

Well, maybe on other islands they have ginger beer and roti. In Newfoundland, we get fancy cheeses, cut bread, fancy crackers, tropical fruit, fancy dips... everything fancy.
